They are so good I just had to share. Especially check out the lovely Ashley in her layback!
What a weekend! My experience at this Festival was great! Full of workshops, lectures, competition, shows and shopping, I didn't get to do it all. I competed in the Tribal category (recorded music) and am proud to say that I won! Worth more than the big sparkly tiara (which is pretty awesome) was the opportunity to dance American Tribal Style® belly dance in an objective competition alongside my cabaret sisters. I would definitely say to check this one out next year if possible.
Here is the link to a raw video of my performance at the opening night show - this is not my competition performance, I'll be getting that from the professional videographer at some point.
We also just performed at All Seasons Hafla in Towson, MD and Ashley performed her first public, improv solo!!!! It was simply beautiful and we are hoping to have that video soon.
Alright, that's all for now!
So, in a couple of days I will be stepping onto a competition stage for the first time, and I'm nervous! Although I've done a few stage performances this will be the first time that I'm putting myself out there for others to judge. We'll see how it goes! In the mean time here are a few new pics:
So, just got back from Toronto where I completed my Teacher Training and became a Sister Studio®! I am so deeply grateful to my teachers and dance sisters, this was simply an amazing experience. Now to focus on bringing it to the Pittsburgh area!
Lot's of fun coming up - Khafif's Halloween Hafla, All Season's Hafla in Baltimore, and the Pittsburgh Bellydance festival. Come check us out!
Here are some new pics too....
We have got so much going on I can barely keep up! A new photo shoot for me, and another scheduled for Ashley. Upcoming performances both in Pittsburgh and in Baltimore. Teaching, demos, and learning choreography, in addition to challenging ourselves with new styles and props.
I will be leaving for teacher training with FCBD in a couple of weeks! I can't wait to learn new skills and connect with friends.
Take a peek at my performance from 9/6/14, and stay tuned for new pics and videos from our upcoming performances!
Ok, first things first. I danced to the amazing Ishtar while at Pennsic, what a great time! Wonderful energy and willingness to support an ATS® dancer in the context of traditional Eqyptian music.
Here's the video! http://youtu.be/Ey9GIt7rKlI?list=UUW1w8XPEpgAKBPM16u6OBdw
I will be dancing with them again at this upcoming event: https://www.facebook.com/events/591371174292249/?ref=2&ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
Following that performance there is plenty of fun to look forward to - Halloween Hafla on October 25th in Pittsburgh, and All Seasons Hafla in Baltimore in November. All the while continuing my ATS classes on Monday nights (see the class page for more details).
And most exciting of all - Teacher Training with Fat Chance Belly Dance in October. General Skills training was a life changer, so I'm sure this will be no different.
And lastly a review - I broke down and finally bought the Bessie skirt from the FCBD website. I had seen lots of wonderful reviews and must say, I love it! Sturdy material and construction, and fits perfectly. And I'm sure I will never finish discovering new ways to wear it.
That's it for now!
Keep those elbows up! LOL.
I'm going to start teaching in just about a week, and I'm so excited! I'm hoping to get a few dedicated students that will love ATS® as much as I do.
I think the hardest part will be to slow it down and not try to do too much at once. I tend to rush when I get nervous...
So, think happy thoughts, and if you are in the area, join me in class! Details on our facebook page...
Here is a pic of myself and the amazing Jenn Senn starting the ATS puja at the beginning of our performance in Maqam. This show was full of beautiful dancers, including the incomparable Jill Parker!
I am filled with gratitude, for the Pittsburgh belly dance community and for ATS, which allows me to experience dance in the flow with my fellow dancers.
I am looking forward to starting up my summer class session, and hoping to lead a few dancers down the ATS path. So many exciting opportunities for dance, hope I can keep up!

I'm sitting down to write with lots of great things on the horizon, classes and shows and finally getting out to take a class myself!
First - I'm going to be teaching, oh my goodness! at All Zen and Fitness Studio in Aliquippa, PA. ATS Level 1 baby! Let's do it! Starting June 16th, at 7:30. I'm so excited to be able to share this beautiful dance form that I love with others.
Next, I'm going to be dancing ATS with Jennifer Senn in Maqam. This is the biggest show I've ever been a part of, and I am nervous. But I know that I will pull myself together and rock it out. But what to wear? Lol. So please come out and support the belly dance community at this event.
I'm looking forward to working hard on incorporating props into my ATS practice - tambourine, fan veil, sword, maybe? I wish I was at Tribal Fest....well, maybe next year.
